Welcome aboard.
Everything you need to know about joining Vanguard, finding your Wing, and getting into the action.
What we ask.
Vanguard is open to all players who share our values — casual or dedicated, brand new or veteran. Here's the short list:
Discord with a working mic. We coordinate by voice. If you don't have a microphone, you won't be able to join Vanguard or participate in voice channels. Text-only isn't an option for operational play.
An RSI account. You'll link your RSI handle during the application process.
18 or older. No exceptions.
No piracy or griefing orgs. If you're a member of an organization that targets lawful players, we can't bring you in. Leadership reserves the right to restrict affiliations that pose a security risk.
No drama. Disagreements happen. Handling them like an adult is required.
Affiliates are welcome. We're a non-exclusive org — while we'd love to be your primary home, we know good pilots sometimes fly with multiple groups. Some rank restrictions apply for affiliates, but you'll still have full access to events, training, and the community.
Three steps. Five minutes.
Hit the button below to start your application. You'll verify your RSI handle, answer a few questions, and tell us a bit about yourself.
Join our Discord and drop your RSI handle in the #rsi-handles channel. A member of our onboarding team will reach out — usually within a day or so. You can also find them in the #onboarding channel if you want to introduce yourself.
Once your application is approved, you'll be granted the rank of Talon Recruit. You're officially in.
Recruit Orientation
Finding your footing.
Your first few weeks are about getting oriented and meeting people. No pressure, no rush, no pop quizzes you aren't ready for.
Vanguard Recruit Orientation: As a new Talon Recruit, you'll work through our VRO — two short modules that get you up to speed. Vanguard 101 covers our history, structure, policies, and how we operate. Intro to Star Citizen covers the fundamentals of the game itself — if you already know your way around a cockpit, you can test out of the basics entirely.
Explore the Wings: During your first week, you're unaffiliated — by design. Jump into events, chat with people from different Wings, and get a feel for where your interests land. After your first week and VRO completion, you can pledge the Wing of your choice and become a Talon Cadet.
Wing Selection
A Wing is a statement, not a limitation.
This is the question new members spend the most time on, so let's clear something up: choosing a Wing doesn't restrict what you can do. A Security member can run cargo. An Industries member can dogfight. A Wing isn't a declaration of "this is the only thing I can do" or "these are the only ships I own." The org has access to every ship in the game.
A Wing is a statement about what you're passionate about, what excites you, or what you want to excel at.
We ask that you choose within your first month of active play. If real life pulls you away before that happens, don't worry. We'll be here when you get back. And if you pick a Wing and realize it's not the right fit? Talk to your officer. We'll work with you to get you reassigned.
Five Wings.
Fighter pilots, capital ship crews, ground forces, and bounty hunters. The sharp end of the spear, focused on defense, force projection, and keeping our people safe.
Miners, salvagers, and fuel specialists. From solo Prospector runs to massive Orion operations, they extract the raw resources that keep everything running.
From Cadet to Hoplite.
Apply and complete onboarding. You're in.
Complete VRO modules and pledge your Wing. Your journey begins.
Complete Wing Academy (~1 month). You're a fully-fledged member of Vanguard, with no further requirements to participate in any operation we run. For many members, this is exactly where they want to be — and they should be proud of that.
What actually matters.
See you in the verse.
Apply today and you could be flying with us by tomorrow. Our onboarding team is standing by.
